The concept of going beyond all limits is deeply rooted in the pages of the Bible, where stories of faith, perseverance, and divine intervention illustrate the power of belief in overcoming obstacles and achieving the seemingly impossible. From the Old Testament to the New Testament, biblical figures exemplify unwavering faith, courage, and determination in the face of adversity, showing us that with God, all things are possible.
The concept of limits encompasses the ideas of boundaries and constraints. A limit represents a point or level beyond which something does not or may not extend. It signifies a restriction on the size or amount of something permissible or possible. This serves as a maximized threshold that cannot be exceeded.
But then Jesus really took the limits off with two well-known statements that He made.
Matthew 19:26
But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Mark 9:23 Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
Can you imagine Jesus speaking those words to you in person? It would leave us thinking that there are unlimited possibilities.
The first thing that will break us out of a limited mindset is the consideration that this isn’t just about what we can do. That would be a limiter, for sure, but it is about a God who doesn’t know impossibility. It is like David facing the giant Goliath. He had confidence because he was going to battle in the Name of the Lord.
The second limitation buster is Jesus’ declaration that everything is possible for the person who believes. We can believe in a God who can do the impossible and His word, which is more certain than any temporary limitations.
In the New Testament, there is a passage that specifically illustrates how the concept of “Beyond All Limits” is not just a general truth, but a deeply personal and impactful reality that applies to each and every individual.
Ephesians 3:20
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,
Oh, praise the Lord! The unlimited power and provision of Christ are working in me!
I want to provide a list of some unlimited promises that we can find in Christ’s provision for us. And, remember that these are the power that is working in us right now. It would be amazing if it were above all we can ask or think. But it is more than that. What if it really were abundantly above all we can ask or think? As great as that sounds, it is actually, exceedingly abundantly above all we can ask or think. Wow, can I just exclaim that it is “Way More!”
Unlimited Access
Hebrews 4:16
Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Because of the redemptive work of Jesus Christ, we are invited to come confidently to the throne of grace, where we have access to mercy and grace for every need. The veil was torn as Jesus died on the cross. The limitations that sin had imposed on humanity had to give way to unlimited access because of the power of the finished work of Christ.
Unlimited Resources
2Corinthians 8:9
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.
2Corinthians 9:8
And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.
The provision of Christ breaks the spirit of lack and limitations, bringing a sense of abundance. God assures us that we can have overflowing cups, rivers of living water, and become rich. Although these verses specifically refer to financial provision, the grace of abundance extends to all that God offers us – from salvation to being filled with the Holy Spirit, and exceeding abundantly above all we can ask or think.
Unlimited Health
1Peter 2:24
who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we,having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.
Psalm 103:3
Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases,
Through the wounds of Jesus, we find healing. This is confirmed in the Psalms, where it is stated that the Lord forgives all our sins and heals all our diseases. The anointing of Jesus represents unlimited power for our wholeness and healing. The use of the word ‘all’ signifies that there are no limits to the incredible grace of healing.
Unlimited Ability
2 Corinthians 12:9
And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
We can see that our weakness is an invitation to the strength of God. The very power of Christ is resting on us, so that the limitations of our weakness are swallowed up in the limitless power of Almighty God. So, let’s join the Apostle Paul in the affirmation that, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
The Bible is filled with stories of individuals who showed incredible faith and witnessed miracles. From Abraham’s faith in God’s promise of a son in his old age to David’s faith in facing the giant Goliath, these stories demonstrate the transformative power of unwavering belief in God’s ability to work beyond all limits.
The life of Jesus Christ exemplifies the ultimate example of surpassing all limits. Through His teachings, miracles, and sacrificial death on the cross, Jesus shattered the chains of sin, death, and limitation, offering humanity the promise of eternal life and redemption.
The stories of biblical figures like Daniel, Esther, and Paul demonstrate the strength of prayer, determination, and unwavering faith in overcoming challenges and fulfilling God’s purposes. These stories serve as a reminder that through prayer, persistence, and trust in God’s timing, we can surpass limitations and witness His transformative work in our lives.
In conclusion, the biblical concept of going beyond all limits is a testament to the limitless power of God and the boundless possibilities that exist through faith, prayer, and perseverance. As we journey through life’s challenges and uncertainties, may we draw inspiration from the stories of faith-filled men and women in the Bible who dared to believe in God’s promises, defy human limitations, and experience His miraculous intervention. May we, too, step out in faith, trust in God’s provision, and embrace the limitless possibilities that await us as we go beyond all limits.
