The Three B’s that Build Stress Resilience
I often get asked, “How do we actually build resilience?” Over the years of study, coaching, and personal trials, I’ve come to rely on what I call the Three B’s:
– Biblical truth
– Brain insight
– Best practices
These three strands form what Ecclesiastes 4:12 calls “a triple-braided cord”—not easily broken.
Biblical truth grounds us. Scripture is full of stories of people under pressure—Elijah, Esther, David, even Jesus. The Bible doesn’t shy away from stress; it shows us how God meets us in it and grows us through it.
Brain insight helps us understand what’s happening under the hood. God created the brain with a stress response system that can either serve us or sabotage us—depending on how we engage it. Knowing how the brain works gives us an edge. It turns mystery into strategy.
Best practices make it all practical. These are the repeatable, research-supported habits that help us recover faster, think clearer, and respond more like Christ in the heat of stress.
When you blend biblical wisdom, brain science, and simple practices, you build a kind of spiritual and emotional muscle memory. That’s the essence of resilience. And it’s not just for crisis moments—it’s for everyday ministry and life.
