Becoming A Healthy Leader
One of the most mentioned struggles in my recent reader survey was the struggle of being a healthy leader. Being healthy encompasses many facets of your life. From your mental health to your physical health to your spiritual health.
Seeing as staying or becoming healthy was one of the biggest struggles leaders are facing, I wanted to dedicate March to helping leaders to become healthier in their daily lives.
Today, we’re going to start off with why being healthy is (or should be) important to a leader.
Why Being Healthy Is Important To A Leader
Being healthy should be a priority to everyone, not just leaders. However, I’ve seen leaders struggle with health time and time again.
Because of their busy work schedules, leaders frequently fail to take care of their health. Their focus has been on taking care of business and running it successfully. This leaves little time to look at their health.
And yet being healthy is crucial to leading well. Your health impacts every area of your life. Unhealthy lifestyle choices brings down the quality of your life and hurts your ability to lead.
When you’re unhealthy:
You can lack the energy to get through the day.
Your mental clarity becomes clouded and you struggle to focus.
The length of your life could be shortened. This will impact your ability to leave a lasting legacy.
Those you lead may not be willing to follow you because you have been unable to take care of yourself.
These are but a few of the effects of being unhealthy. Being unhealthy makes it a struggle to get the job done.
The Path To Becoming A Healthy Leader
Over the next couple of weeks, I’m going to be sharing tips on becoming healthier. You’ll discover ways to fit exercise into your busy schedule, how to stay away from junk food (my biggest health-related weakness!), the healthy habits of other successful leaders, and much more.
I implore you to join me on this journey of health. You’ll be glad you did when it’s all said and done.
