4 Reasons to Ask Yourself What Else Is Possible

I recently chatted with a friend who runs a non-profit organization helping young, unwed mothers. I was attempting to help her resolve an issue with her Microsoft 365 calendar not syncing with Outlook. It would sync with Gmail but not the program she was using.

Before we got into the issue, we were chatting about life. I shared about my Ragnar Trail run. She shared about a fitness journey she was on.

One of the things she was trying to accomplish was to be able to do pull-ups. You know the dreaded exercise where you lift yourself up using only your arms. It’s horrible! But it also feels great when you’re able to.

Like any time you start an exercise program, you have to start off small. It may be through assisted pull-ups or modified pull-ups. At the end of the program, she had seen a significant improvement. Her improvement prompted a question:

What else is possible?

She saw improvement and was excited about what else she could do next. Guess what, you can have the same excitement and ask the same question. What else is possible? The world, if you ask me.

But there are multiple reasons to ask yourself what else is possible. Let’s look at four of those reasons.

4 Reasons To Ask Yourself What Else Is Possible

1. Asking what else is possible opens up new possibilities:

When you ask what else is possible, you open yourself up to new possibilities. You’re telling yourself you’re unwilling to stick to the old, tried, and true. You know there could be more out there.

And you’re looking for it.

When your mind is open to what else is possible, you open yourself up to seeing what is out there. You start to look to see what else you can do.

Keep asking what else is possible.

2. Asking what else is possible lets you know you can do more:

You will struggle at the beginning of any new venture you attempt. You may feel you’re not up to it or that it can’t be done. Yet, as you do more, you begin to ask yourself what more can you do.

What does that do? It lets you know you can always do more.

You can:

  • Run further than you believe you could
  • Teach more people than you thought
  • Be a better husband
  • Get more done

Looking for what’s possible gives you the ability to do more.

3. Asking what else is possible allows you to dream bigger:

In a similar vein, asking what else helps you to dream bigger. You have already seen the small results. What’s next? What else can you do? What else can you accomplish?

Maybe you never thought you could lift 200 lbs. Through your hard work, you’ve begun lifting that weight and more. Now, you’re dreaming bigger with visions of lifting 250 lbs. Maybe you’re dreaming that you can accomplish running a full marathon, something you never thought you could do before.

However, because you’ve tackled smaller accomplishments, you’re now able to ask yourself what else and dream bigger.

4. Asking what else is possible gives you something to look forward to:

Maybe the biggest thing asking what else is possible is that your question gives you something to look forward to. You are able to understand you can dream bigger, do more, and have more possibilities open up to you.

All of this gives you something more to look forward to. You can see your dreams and possibilities coming true. And it’s your reality now.

What else is possible makes almost anything possible.
