Understanding How to Recognize the Voice of God

1 Corinthians 15:46 NLT
First the natural then the spiritual

God speaks in many ways to His family. I’ve found that over time, He speaks to me most often with biblical patterns and principles established from His Word and revealed in life. If we have ears to hear and eyes to see we will not miss His voice nor His direction.

Parables are one of the main ways Jesus taught, Matt 13:34 Jesus always used stories and illustrations like these when speaking to the crowds. In fact, he never spoke to them without using such parables.

What exactly is a parable? A parable is a truth or concept that is explained with another truth that is more concrete. Natural versus conceptual or even spiritual you see all truth is parallel. If you can see it happening in the natural world, there is a spiritual truth in the spiritual world. Jesus, when using parables would use parallel truths so He could explain the things people couldn’t see by referencing things people could see and were familiar with. God still uses things we do see to explain things we cannot see until we have faith in the unseen, which will allow us to see the invisible and do the impossible!

A great example of this is the winter storm we recently experienced in Texas that has been proclaimed the worst in a century. If you are listening for His voice, He will speak in the middle of your storm. The constant back and forth with power-no power, gives us a place to pray and rejoice for answered prayer along with reflections of how God, angels, and faith work in our lives like no other time.

Reading His word also reminds me that while I seldom think about death, which means I’m not urgent about doing life as I should be, I also have this false sense of security when I live day to day without contemplating what I would do without let’s say, water, electricity, heat, etc. It’s astonishing for me to see how when the POWER is on, I revert right back to my regular self and am concerned with my own selfish desires, but when the POWER goes off, I begin to seek God, then He reminds me about others that have no resources and How I gave Him my word and commitment to help people meet Jesus, salvation, by meeting their natural needs.

God didn’t send the bad weather. It’s Satan that comes’ to steal kill and destroy, but God does use what the Devil meant for evil and He turns it for our good. These are the conversations I have with The Lord when I seek Him. They create wisdom in those who hear and do them.

Proverbs 4:7 – “Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do! And whatever else you do, develop good judgment. 8 If you prize wisdom, she will make you great. Embrace her, and she will honor you.”

So what did you hear from The Lord during the “Coldemic?” I’m always interested to hear God’s Word to you.

Let me hear from you today on what you are hearing from this blog.

Keep pressing,
GFW

G.F. Watkins is an international leader, speaker, visionary, church planter, and an author of seven books. From his humble beginnings as a high school coach, G.F. has gone on to plant churches around the world starting with PowerHouse Church in Katy, Texas, Powerhouse Namibia in Africa, and PowerHouse Peru in South America.  As a spiritual son to the late Dr. Edwin Louis Cole, father of the modern day men’s movement, G.F. Watkins’ principle of ministry and church planting is the restoration of the world through the restoration of the man. This fundamental belief, that men are God’s answer to the world’s  problems, birthed the world wide movement known as Man Church over 20 years ago.  Man Church teaches that manhood and Christlikeness are synonymous. It is the foundation on which all of PowerHouse Church and its covenant churches are built on. Reach the man, change the family; change the family, change the church; change the church, change the community; change the community, change the city; change the city, change the state; change the state, change the nation; change the nation, change the world. It all begins with men taking responsibility and taking their rightful place. After pastoring PowerHouse Katy for 20 years and planting churches around the globe, G.F. has stepped into the role of an apostolic leader and coach through his organization The Genesis Team. The Genesis team serves as a covering and a resource to pastors and business leaders, their families, and their staff. Sharing the wisdom gained over 30 years of ministry he guides young pastors and leaders as they navigate the obstacles of life. Pastor G.F. travels the world equipping God’s leaders with strategies for increasing commitment levels, developing and growing strong men’s ministries, and impacting the world with the gospel.
