In serving the Lord for the past 43 years, I have found the enemy doesn’t fight fair. I’ve also found he fights ALL the time. He doesn’t take a break. He doesn’t take holidays. He is intentional in his objective to bring you down in any and every area of your life. Anytime you are going to a new level or God is opening new doors, the enemy is going to release an all-out war against you. His job is to steal, kill and destroy. He doesn’t want the kingdom of God advancing. He doesn’t want you “winning.” He doesn’t want the plans and purposes of God fulfilled. That’s why we must recognize the devil for who he is and what motivates him. We must understand the Word of God on this matter and why we must fight against the devil.
Ephesians 6:10-12
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
In this passage, we find Four Levels of Devils (verse 12). Let’s identify them:
- Principalities – low level devils. These come to annoy, irritate and distract you.
- Powers – devils that use force and control. These cause addictions and mental illness.
- Rulers of the Darkness of this World – these deal with world rulers and governmental control and abuse.
- Spiritual Wickedness in High Places – these cause malice, disease, harm and illness.
As you can see, the devil don’t play. He’s got an army and an agenda. We must, as a born again Christians, come against these demonic powers.
First, Paul tells us to be strong in the Lord. Second, he tells us to put on the whole armor of God. Third, he tells us that all we have do is to stand. Fourth, he tells us to pray! This is our formula for winning! This is our prescription for victory!
Let’s be doers of the Word and not just hearers only. Make the decision today to stand up and fight the good fight of faith because you’ve been promised that the victory belongs to you!!
